Mason is 5!

Mason celebrated his 5 birthday (again!) on Monday, August 26. That little boy of mine is growing up way too fast. It's so exciting to see him growing up, but sometimes I just wish I could squish him back into a baby again. He is so funny and adventurous, too! He is always keeping us laughing with his positive spirit and can-do attitude. Mason loves Star Wars Wii - he can talk for hours about how it's played and what "guys" they have on their team. He loves roller coasters and going fast. We had so much fun at LEGOLAND over the weekend - he called it his birthday treat!

So here's my walk down memory lane. 5 years goes by fast!

Celebrating at school

Mason, I love your sweet, sweet face. I love that when I kiss you, you rub it in. I love the big hugs you give and that you want to be carried up-side down (but not for too much longer!). You bring our family so much happiness and laughter. I love you, little man. Happy Birthday!

Funny Stuff Mason Says

I should have started this one a long time ago. That little man of mine is clever and has a funny sense of humor. Just today he told me he has "ear lashes. They're like eye lashes but they are in your ears." Makes sense, right? That's what they shall be called from now on.

A few minutes later Brady told Mason to say the magic word. Mason said, "pretty please?" Nope, that's not it. Mason said, "handsome please?" I wish I would have thought of that one!

One of my all time favorites was a couple of years ago when he asked for a Popsicle and he said "what are they called - ice pickle socks?" Yes, we still call them that, too.

I need to keep up with more of these and now that I have a place to record them, I will.  He is always making us laugh!

Here's another one from just the other night... Mason had his pajama pants on and was climbing into bed. I was pulling the covers over him and he said, "hang on, I need to fix my leg sleeves." :)

1st Day of School

The kids started school on August 13. Brady started 2nd grade and Mason is in Prep. Senior (kindergarten). So, I've finally made the rite of passage into both my kids being in full-day school. Yeah! They were very excited and happy to see some friends on the bus!

Summer Fun

I don't have too many pictures from our TX trip, but we had so much fun! We were able to spend a lot of time with family and friends. I'm already looking forward to Christmas and next summer!

We had a birthday party for the boys. 8 and 5 - crazy!

We had a fun week camping in Port Aransas.

Boogie boarding with Papaw

Vacation Bible School

Mason learned to water ski

Brady learned to wakeboard

Thanks Kelly! We had a fun dinner with friends

I saw these on our way back through Dubai. I didn't buy them, but they are good for a laugh. Also, I would definitely be too confused with the salt in the black shaker and the pepper in white. The cool dude on the right is a bobble head!

Dubai

We had a wonderful 4-day stopover in Dubai in June. It is a lovely place to visit and really helped to break our long-haul flight to TX into 2 manageable chunks. We were still jet-lagged, but we had a fun holiday on the way!

If you ever get the chance to go to Dubai, do the dune bashing tour. It was so much fun! 45 minutes of crazy driving and bouncing around in a Land Cruiser. I'll try to upload some videos, but they don't do it justice. It's mostly just us laughing and screaming!

The highlight of the trip was the Dune Bashing!

Mason fell asleep on the ride out to the dunes.

That sand was HOT! We have no idea what we're in for next!

Awake and ready for some dune bashing!

Ryan had a baseball cap on, but when you're hitting the dunes everyone gets a new wrap.

Once the wild ride was over, we went to this camp area. They had 4-wheelers, camel rides, henna tattoos, local BBQ, entertainment, etc.

All these kids need is a big sand pit!

This guy was pretty cool. He spun around until the sun went down - literally!
